    Default something i have noticed

    hi people i dont no why i have started to do this but i have started to put my foot on the clutch both when starting the engine and stoping and it just seems smoother is this ok doing might be a stupid question but hey what are forums for they are to find things out

    Same here, I've always done it ever since I had my Rx-8 as you had to do it with them. Now it's just habit lol

    instrution manual for my vec b advised this on start up so just carried it on with the c

    It reduces the load on the starter motor a bit as it doesn't have to turn the gearbox input shaft and half the clutch assembly. It's one of these thins that's a simple and easy way of prolonging part of the engine and takes virtually no effort.

    Same applies to leaving the car in gear when you park - simple, easy, free and protects the car in the event of handbrake failure...

    always have started engine with clutch pedal pressed.
    might be coincidence, but: -
    1.9CDTI[150], driven 100,000+ miles in 5.5yrs -- original clutch, DMF and transmission all fine.
