Eek Advice plz, Traction control buttons etc

Hi, I have a 2.2 SRI 2008 and I have popped out the blanking plates around the stereo as I only have the alarm button, behind 4 of the other blanking plates are plugs which look like I could connect something straight into them, firstly what are they all for and secondly is it as easy as buying the button and pushing it on? surely not and its probably a silly question but hey.......... if I dont ask I wont know. Cheers in advance.

I think they're for heated seats, sport and traction control. The traction control can be as simple as buying the switch and plugging it in but it'll most likely need Tec-2 activation. I've got the 1.9 (150) and it doesn't have TC even though it has the blue connector in the back.
The sport switch is more complicated and unless you fit full leather the heated seat switches are useless.

Sport button definitely won't work but you can make it light up easily enough to fill the gap.

Traction control button on a later car like yours also almost definitely wont work but you "may" be able to make it work by adding another couple of wires if most of the loom is already there (just done it on mine).

Heated seats, if the plugs are in there and the wiring in place under the seats then they should just work if you plug in heated seats and the switches (rear ones have to be tech 2'd in, but fronts don't).

Park pilot, you need to fit all the modules, sensors, a lot of extra wiring and the switch as well as a tech 2 session, but anything's possible, it's been done by a few people (mine's fitted from the factory).

cool thanks for all the info, will probably have a look to see if the loom is under the seats and consider new seats then.
