Default Insignia 2.0CDTI 128 Exclusiv. Your thoughts please!!

    Morning guys,

My dad wants to upgrade his 55-reg Vec SRi CDTI he has owned for about 4.5 years.

He has seen a 59-reg Insignia as per title. Its the Exclusive with 18" alloys.

Whats your thoughts? He wants to save on insurance, presumably this would be cheaper?

Our main reservation is that its done 70k. although its got FSH.

    Thanks.

    Hi G

    Mines a 130 exclusiv

Love the car but I've had a few problems with mine but I think most of its down to incompetent dealership

I've had new EGR,gearbox, clutch, flywheel and now it's sitting outside my house waiting to be towed to Vauxhall again

Driving yesterday and steam started pouring out from front and u got a code 3 error on dash (low coolant) it decided to dump all the coolant water on the road outside !

Apart from that it's been a pleasure to drive

Just out of warranty by near 3 months so hoping Vauxhall help me out

I went from a 04dti elegance to a brand new 160 exclusive. Insurance went up slightly but the drive more than makes up for that.I don't think he'll be disappointed mate.

I drove a 2ltr 160ps Insignia for two weeks and hated it, the drive was okay but the visability was horrific and made me feel unsafe.

This one is a CDTi 128, so power is less.

Its just the mileage issue thats bugging us, 70k on a 59-plate.....!

    Whats it worth?

Also, are these warranteed up to 90k or is it the old 3-years or 60k with these?

Don, is it quite problematic then? Steer clear or deffo a dodgy dealer?

    Thx.

Surely makes sense to downsize to a smaller car with smaller engine if your dad is looking to save on insurance?

Out of interest, what is the price of that said Insignia?

The 130 bhp siggys are a good motor but there is problems like any other new car, mine was crunching into 2nd alot but afaik it's quite common.

Luckily for me Vauxhall changed gearbox and it has helped, but dealership I went to left spanner on gearbox and it shot out back of car on way to TV live last year hitting underside of car on way out
They also left pipe loose on power steering whitch leaked all over engine bay !

Most insignias have clutch slap (feels like a mont has gone when changing gear) but 160 bhp models can upgrade to 4x4 clutch and this eliminates it but 130 models have no cure as yet because it's a different gearbox to the 160.

Apart from that it's a pleasure to drive fuel figures quoted by Vauxhall are crazy and get no where near them, I'm lucky to get 36 to 40 around town but I've had near 53 mpg on motorway.

Interior is nice but no where as comfy as SRI seats and I would deffo make sure you have parking sensors
Mileage is always a factor but they are solid cars think cambelt is 100k but might be worth doing it earlier.

Most niggles on earlier models were dealt with by recalls so all in all there a good car
