It's as easy as popping to somewhere like B&Q or somewhere that gets their goods on a pallet. Most retailers dispose of them, and you could get one for nowt just by asking the staff if there's one available. Pop it home, and strap whatever you want to send onto it.

We send pallets at work, TNT, UPS, and Citylink will courier them for you, but you'll have to advise them that what your sending is on a pallet and approximate weight so that they have the proper equipment to load it onto their van/truck.

Phone two or three local multi-drop agents for quotes (see delivery below)
They should supply everything you need

They should visit on the first visit with the pallet and then return on a second visit to collect and uplift
However for small items they will often wait, but this normally has to be arranged in advance
You MUST securely wrap the items within the pallet dimensions and then to the pallet itself, confirm this with the agent you select

£60 to £80 seems quite fair
Make sure your buyer pays ALL of this cost

    The next issue is delivery
If it is a large company, then they will quite often only make one attempt at delivery (as this is normally only performed by companies and so deliveries almost always possible)
So ask about this when you phone up for the quotes
If delivery cannot take place, what are the arrangements and additional costs for further attempted deliveries

The contractor we use drops off the pallets in the morning and pickups up the consignment later that day
We quite often already have everything shrink wrapped so quite often they will wait while we load the pallets
The pallet is then normally delivered the following day, during business hours

Make the buyer do the work. Tell him you are happy for HIM to arrange collection. you did list it as collection only.

I have pulled out of such sales on eBay UK before
Clearly stated in the description "buyer collects only"
Numpties will still bid, "Didn't realise, can you deliver?"

I did however sell a pair of ladders a few years ago
Description clearly stated within 25 miles of Cumbernauld only
Someone used BIN, and then asked for delivery to Carlisle...
Again, I advised them this would not be possible, but if they wanted I would deliver it for £100 (more than the cost of set of new ladders), to which they agreed!
I got them to sign a delivery note when I dropped them off
