Finally I have had time to work on my own car at the garage I work at.

Been meaning to do an oil and filter change and remove the undertray as where I live we have speed humps that are in the middle of the road so your wheels pretty much go either side and the under tray gets dragged over it making a god awful noise and slowly wearing it away lol.

After an oil change a swear the engine sounds quiter and drives smoother lol.

I love that good feeling after a service, quieter and smoother. Got to do a full service on mine, oil and filters all round by July. It's due now but going to hold out until just before our holiday.

Is yours lowered? Never had my undertray hit the deck.

I took the undertray off my wife's Golf and couldn't be bothered putting it back on. After one winter, the corrosion on engine components was really bad and it definitely contributed to the power steering pump pulley shearing off. So now it goes back on, even if I can't really be bothered!

My undertray saved my sump from getting smashed in the other day.

Towing my caravan on the Motorway and a landrover towing an empty car trailer overtook me on the middle lane.

Once he was about 200yds in front his Jockey wheel and arm came off and slid along the motorway towards me.

Nothing i could do as i was towing.

Luckily it was aimed for the centre of my car, and it hit with a wallop.

I assumed it hit the undertray as thats the lowest thing there.

Like above im on Eibachs too, so sits quite low.

Stopped on the hard shoulder, but couldnt see any damage.

Think if that tray wasnt there, it would have smashed my sump.
