Default Boxes and their Effects on the engine.

I read somewhere on here (I think AJA Said it) that turning a box up too high raises the pressure in the common rail and can damage the rail and injectors.....The comment went on to say 190BHP would be OK.

I have a 120 BHP engine and have a CR2 fitted with 2 setting remaining.

    2 questions:

    1. Are the rail and injectors on the 120 rated the same as a 150 engine.. and hence even at full chat on the box (i believe about 160 BHP) the extra load on the rail should be acceptable?

    2. Any ideas what the steps are between jumpers on the CR2?

This is only my opinion Brocks and from passed experience. I've had all my injectors replaced and the rail itself. I have no proof to backup my comment, it's just my belief.

It's the same with any tuning product - they all effect reliebility. Otherwise manufacturers would be fitting them from the factory.

Cheers AJA, Don'r suppose you know if the 150 and 120 rails have any commonality?

Oh well, I was just thinking if the rail spec is the same in both engines and can take the pressures requierd for 150 horses, If I have my 120 running at 140-150 then I shouldn't have a problem.

Recently spoke to a VX technician about tuning boxes. He seemed very knowledgable about these things and suggested that if any of the components were put under more than the pressure you would get from an approved VXRpc remap you could well have some expensive problems!

Can't imagine that they'd be user adjustable!

they're not.. they're sealed.. and on quite a low profile..

lets just say that the 'caterman' box for £65 is far more powerful than Irmschers box which is quite a bit more..

Irmscher box is set at around 175bhp and as said before a low profile.

Not sure it is a "resistor in a box" or a "digital box" though?
