Default MOT time - The dreaded....

    snapped suspension springs!!
Went for an MOT yesterday, failed on fractured O/S springs front and back

    and a few advisories:

Slight damp around both ends of steering rack
    Exhaust flexi
    blow from exhaust
back box poor condition (already new about this)
NSR tyre uneven wear (already new about this)
front to rear brake pipes slight corrosion
OSR top hub bush slight play

VX wanted around 250 - 300 for a set of front and rear springs (they only sell in axle pairs)
a local motor factors do them individually for 87ish (total for 1 front and 1 rear). is this reasonable or should I be looking elsewhere?

local place can do the wheel alignment for £20

the exhaust bits are fairly straight forward, been thinking about fitting a new exhaust anyway!

He said the steering rack wasn't a major issue, just something to keep an eye on

How difficult is the exhaust flexi to replace?
Same question for the top hub bush?

£87 for one front and one rear spring is a good price, but you really should be changing springs in pairs, as many other threads have discussed.

I know, but I can barely afford food atm, let alone springs!! its on my to do list, since lowering is also my to do list (hopefully in the not too distant future) I'll prob change them all then anyway!!

ONly £13 more than you're going to spend but means you can get them all done and dont need to worry about expense in the future. Im sure someone will be nearby that can help you change them if needbe

One of my rear springs snapped last year which it was picked up on at MOT and failed, had replaced it in pairs as this was recommended if not it would affect ride quality.
