Hi,
Quick question..
My 6-speed gearbox has failed on my 56 plate z22YH 2.2 direct Sri, AND the replacement I paid £860 for has failed too
Can I fit a 5-speed (F23..?) from a pre-facelift z22YH 2.2 direct to my car instead?
Cheers
Ant.

Ive got the same car and mine failed on about 43k, what's yours done? I wrote to VX to complain and see if they'll offer me a contribution towards the rebuild cost.
Sent from my iPhone when I should be working.
47k the first one, then got second hand one fitted, cost me £860 + fitting, that lasted just until the 3 month warranty ran out and then went pop too grrrr....
I had the 5 speed on my pre-facelift before this car and that did 150k with no issues. Just wondering if the 5 speed would be a replacement for the 6...
I didn't take a chance on replacing mine with another dud one off the shelf so got it rebuilt for a grand. All the recon gearboxes I saw came with at least a 12 month/12000 mile warranty, you must have been unlucky.
How about sticking an auto box on yours?
Does anyone know if the 5 speed box from a pre-face lift 2.2 direct will fit my facelift 2.2 direct?
If you're going to use a completely different gearbox instead of the same model as your failed one, you might as well look into fitting an F40 (6 speed), as it has the advantage of being bullet proof, unlike the M32's that have failed in your car in the past.
Yes but the F40 was never fitted to the 2.2 direct (only diesels I think)
The reason for going for the 5 speed is I thought it might be a direct fit for everything (including the correct ratios) apart from the selector...?
I don't going back to 5 speed like I had on the pre-facelift. Just want a quick fix.
it should be a straghit fit a 5 speed AF23 from the identical prefacelift engine.
Isn't the AF23 an auto?
