    Exclamation COW Boy Mechanics?

    A Large story short.

TODAY - I got my VXR BRAKE KIT INSTALLED ON MY VECTRA CDTI ELITE (18'' SNOWFLAKES)

I also got steel braided brake lines fitted in & brake fluid bled and replaced fully & rear caliper replaced.

So anyways this garage was recommended to me a very busy place which means two things anyway on pick up he told me to keep an eye on the brake fluid over the next two days. Feeling the brake pedal it felt very soft (345mm Discs) Did not feel even firm. Went back and told me to drive the car 15miles or so and should be firmer.

Garage is based in Birmingham and ways as I arrived into Luton and come off on the slip road i put the brakes and behold and scrapping sound like the pad was stuck to the disc, it happened as i broke and then let go of the brake. Further more their is a clicking sound coming from the left side tyre when pressing the brake in standby and can be heard from inside the car. The scrapping sound continues everytime i slow down by pressing the brake and carry on

What do you guys think it could be before I get it checked tomorrow.

The guys in Birmingham and I am in luton so will call him to see what he has got to say ideally I want him to pay for it to be put right and not willing to travel to Birmingham to sort it as I told him I am from Luton.

I think we should start to Have Forum Post JUST FOR NAMING & SHAMING GARAGES, THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ME.

Amazingly the car never had a dust shield so its not that. The sound is not a squeeking sound but like a spring being pulled scrapping sound. The pads are Bosch and the discs police spec

New brakes will always feel soft until the pads bed in to the disc's. If after, say, 200 miles they are still soft, id defiantly take it back. Id say hes telling you to keep and eye on the fluid just in case there is a leak. Id say hes saying it more as a precaution rather than in expectation of a a leak. Did they bleed the rears too?

Pads where not new as they still half a life & did not want to buy a new pair but the disc and pads where matched as they where both used.

They where meant to bleed the whole car each caliper & from the tank it self however it is done but each one as well.

I serviced my car a couple of weekends back. Took the pads out all round, cleaned up, refitted, and bleed the whole system. The feel from them was terrible!!!! Took a couple of days to bed everything back in properly. Is the scrapping defiantly coming from the front?

Is that such a bad thing? I even brought a brand new pair and returned it as they had more then half a life on them. If its that bad ill buy another pair and get em fitted. THERE IS NO PLATE WHATSOEVER ! Someone has either nicked or eaten it.
