    Default Plasti-dip-tips

I saw a pic on here of a pre-face grill which had the chrome blacked out. Thought I might try this with Plasti-dip as it seems its the most reversible option if I don't like it/sell the car/change my mind. And it's cheap. And it may be easier than painting.

Anyone got any tips or experience with this?

I guess that 1 can will do the grill, do I *need* to prime it first (I'm assuming the chrome is metal not plastic?). How extensive is the coverage (ie should I totally mask the grill bit or just coat that too)? Should I key the surface first, if so this could be a dealbreaker as it sort of defeats the point of this option...

It's plastic, just rub it down, prime with plastic primer and then paint & lacquer done

There's one on eBay at min already blacked out for 15 iirc?

But I'd just do as above...

With Plastidip you don't need to rub down or primer or lacquer just make sure the surface is clean and spray it. 3-4 even coats will do and hey presto its all done. I did my Octi grill recently and its very easy to use here's my thread of how it turned out http://www.vectra-c.com/forum/showthread.php?t=159513 hope this helps. As its a plastic/rubber spray it will last much longer than spraying with paint etc and no worries with stone chips etc.

Where'd you get hold of this stuff? It looks good.

Edit: scratch that, Google has sorted it for me!

The grill is just a test for me tbh.

Long term plan is to smoke wrap the chrome (grille - stripped first, window trim, boot trim), do the chrome fog mod (smoke wrapped), anthracite/smoke alloys with some filler to make them look a bit different (early 17in snowies), get some sun blinds. Remove the external aerial, fit a blanking grommet and fit an internal one.

And then matte black plasti-dip the whole car....

It's currently (poor quality) flame red so when time comes to sell it should look alright with the plasti-dip peeled off and dark chrome trim/wheels.

    Any thoughts?
