    Default Best place for tyres?

It's about that time again when it's time to get new tyres for the front of the car. Driving to Poland in the summer so they need to be done before then (got just shy of 2mm tread left).

Currently got Goodyear NCT5 215 50R 17 W on them. Always had them on since we got the car in 2007. Last replaced all 4 2 years ago and they were £125 each fitted. Rears look like they have hardly been touched but the front are getting low.

Kwik Fit will do them for £148.10 each fitted, gone up £23 since we last got them from there.

I would like to keep the same as we've never had any problems with them.

Anyone know anywhere I can get them cheaper?

Thats not actually a bad price for those particular tyres....camskill are usually cheap, but they are about £125, plus delivery then you'd have to pay fitting.

Does it HAVE to be the NCT5's?

That's what we've always had so wanted to stick with them. Unless there are any other recommendations?

Camskill can do them for £125.60 each. I'll phone the local garage in the morning to see how much they charge for fitting.
Going to phone Halfords autocentre as well and see if my trade card allows any discount on tyres there.

    Thanks for the tips team

For starters, change size from 215/50/17 to 225/45/17. More choice available, and thus cheaper.

Then ditch the NCT5 before it ditches you. They are the most awful tyres I've ever had on a car. Total crap and too expensive.

My personal recommendation is Uniroyal Rainsport 2's. Best tyres I've ever had fitted to a car. They last quite well and handle superbly.

Last pair of Rainsports I bought was from Camskill. Something like £165 delivered, then paid ATS £20 to fit them.

You could try Neuton NT5000's from Neo Brothers, I've been stunned by how good they are especially considering the price. They came recommended by a good number of people on this forum.

I also recommend the Neuton tyres.

If you do order them and need them fitted give me a shout as I work at a garage on Fridays and Saturdays and can fit them for you.

If I do it I doubt my boss would charge much (Just enough to cover the cost of disposal of the old tyre and the cost of the valve and weights)

Or you could change the tyre size to 235/45/17 so you get more tyre on the road but pretty much the same rolling diameter.

Never heard of the Neutron tyres. Pretty cheap, almost too cheap to me. What sort of mileage do they give?

Thanks for the offer Lee, I'll keep you in mind
