    Question ive got a rattler

hello everyone, ive just bought a 2.2dti and when its started from cold its beutifully quiet, but after a couple of mins it starts to make a kind of rattly noise. ive had a good look round and cant see anything loose but when i took the drivers front wheel off and looked at the belt when running it appears to loosen. dont know if this is any way related but when the lights are on at night they dim slighty.is it possibly an alternater problem or am i barking up the wrong tree. hoping for a cheap solution (arent we all!) forgot to mention when its reved it stops the noise.

It could possibly be knackered bearings in alternator, knackered tensioner or maybe the belt is just knackered, but I doubt that would cause a rattling

or could be the same problem i have sounds awful and its the drive belt tensioner for the alternator and it has knackered a 3 month old alternator so i would check that out asap as you dont want to be pulling out for an alternator as well
