    Default boost pressure sensor input and output voltage???

    hi folks.

    I've been having issues with the beast (2.0dti) and plasma stuck his tech2 on it for me(gentleman that he is)and it brought up the code for the boost actuator valve......

    having swapped it over with a coul[pe of others I now dont think the problem lies their....... and I think the problem may be with the boost sensor(MAP) that tells the ecu what to do with the actuator to regulate boost.........

    I've seen the how to test a MAP sensor video:

    http://vectra-c.com/forum/showpost.p...0&postcount=32

    and this one:

    [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_vAtjLil5Y0&feature=fvwrel"]MAP Sensor & Wiring Diagram - YouTube[/ame]

    and am slightly confused as according to the leaflet form bosch the sensor output to ecu should start at about 1.5v on idle and increase up to a max of about 4.5v under maximum boost...... which sounds the opposite of what the tech on the video says.... or am I confusing pressue and vaccum??

    having watched the video and (back pinned/paperclip) tested the MAP sensor, I know that it is getting 5 volts in (as expected) but sending 1.6v out to the ecu(rather than th 5 in the video)whether the ignition is just turned on (2nd click) or the car is on and idling(like a ffffiinf tractor BTW)..... and when i did the suction test with the just ignition on- (using hose and lung method as i don't have a vac gauge) the voltage drops from 1.6v to 1.3v

    so the qusetion is- can anyone tell me what the in and out voltage is on their (good) diesel MAP with the ignition just turned to the second click and then when the engine is started????

    or are there any clever folks who know the answer without having to test anything??? lol

    any help greatly appreciated :-)

    Default

    bump......................

    and when I start the car and rev it to 2750 rpm the volts drop from 1.58v to 1.44v

    car won't rev past that as the turbo isn't kicking in.......

    does it sound like a boost sensor issue??? al boost hoses are ok but the Turbo Wastegate Actuator Valve isn't getting a SWITCHING signal....

    experts please step forward and show your intelligence....

    satuday morning sounds great to me..

    my maf is BOSCH PART NO 0281 002 479 which from a quick search matches your vx part number

    the maf is reading: battery voltage @ pin 2

    0.6v (+/-0.2) @ pin 3

    2v at ignition click 2, 5v when at idle and still 5v when revved to 2750rpm @ pin 4

    1.9v a click 2 and at idle, and 2.9 volts when revved to 2750rpm at pin 5

    not found any spec for the maf yet so can't really from an opinion...... not that I know much lol

    Also my boost pipes seem to be ok but I'm replacing them with silicone this avo as it only cost s7 quid...

    the exhaust smells diesely and is chuffing out a lot of smog under revs....... but the wastegate pulls closed when the car is started..... just seems something is not telling the wastegate what to do I think, ish :-/

    I've pmd you but will post here too incase it helps someone else.

    Check egr is fully sealing as a partially open egr can kill boost pressure.

    A map sensor an throttle position sensor should read same at wide open throttle.
    So of you can get live data an compare.

    And I believe map sensor should be around 1.2v @ idle

    Here are some readings I took from my v6 cdti, Car was warm after just completing a few mile drive and has 128k on clock and suffers a slightly un even idle every now an then.

    So granted not perfect for testing against but gives a rough idea

    Maf = 1.6v @ idle 3.3v @ 3000rpm

    Map = 2v @ idle 2.8v @ 3000rpm
