    Angry inlet change?

    good evening everyone
i have read through quite alot of threads about the swirl flaps on the inlet and seems to be a common problem in the 1.9 cdti. after having my new signum serviced today after owning it for two weeks they cam up with expensive advisorys. DMF and clutch, cam belt/ water pump, and the inlet. according to them 2k worth or work .
the operating link has fallen off the ball joints and sitting inbetween the inlet and the block. can i not take the operating link off a an 07 engine and fit it to mine instead of changing the whole manifold. the position of all the flaps are different no.1 is facing 8, 2 is towards 9, 3 is at 10, and 4 is at 5. im sure this will make the engine suffer.
if the inlet needs changing how difficult is it to do it yourself?

    Cheers
    Alec

I removed the bar, set flaps 1,2,4 at the open (10 o'clock) position, then applied some strong heat-resistant glue around and over them (don't be shy about using loads of glue!!). Left the car for 24 hours for the glue to set. That was about 10k miles ago, and they're still solid now, and it runs like new still.

Leave #3, as the motor needs to move it, otherwise a fault will show up.

I wouldn't use silicon. It doesn't set rock solid, and will come off over time
