    Default Bank holiday modding

No not the car this time, but the house, well actually the garden to be more precise. The girlfriend has been going on for sometime that she wanted (me) to do something with the back garden, but since I hate gardening in any shape, way or form its always been right at the very back of my mind. In fact I would rather count the bits of gravel on my drive than do any gardening. Just lately tho she's been banging on about it everyday, so eventually I caved in.

A couple of weeks ago we went down to Jacksons to order some patio slabs, brickettes, sand and cement.

So Bank holiday was set aside for the work to commence. Started nice and early Friday morning. started by pulling the dodgy patio that had been laid by the last owners, basically the boring 18x18" yellow slabs had just been laid loose on sand and over the years had moved about quite a lot. Then had to dig out about 3", put some hardcore down and concrete for the base.

On Saturday the laying of slabs began on a bed of sharp sand and cement with a bit of water so it wasn't dry but not really wet either.

Sunday was the same, more slab laying. Monday was a day of rest due to it chucking down with rain. Started again bright and early this morning to get some more slabs laid. Popped down to jacko's again to pick up another 5 bags of cement and order another tonne of sand.

This is the progress so far. I'm actually quite pleased with the work. Today I cut the edge so its actually starting to look like a patio.

Holy christ I'd better not show her that, that'll be another thing on the shopping list.
