Damaged wing mirror (advice and part no needed)

Hi Guys,

Some fool just clipped my OSF wing mirror (09 plate insignia SRI 160 CDTI) by forcing his way through a line of traffic rather than waiting, popped the main top part off which I duly picked up before trying to follow him (he floored it and I lost sight of him in the end)

Anyway the top is fine and unscathed however the bottom part as you can see is shattered, firstly I need to know what part needs replacing as it appears the mirror is made up of three main parts, the part that is broken as you can see is not the top,nor the main black bit which attatches to the body but an apparantly seperate black part which sits where I have put a yellow mark on the pic. I need a part no and description for it if possible so I can track down (or at least try to) a second hand scrappage part rather than fork out or a brand new one since the car is meant to be going up for sale next week!!!

Any help and info appreciated

Sadly not my concentration was diverted to try and move over as much as possible! - stopped for split second to pick back up, span round and went after him but he must have floored it and dived down a side street, a couple I stopped down road though it was a police chase, he flew through there followed 20 seconds later by myself was their comment!!

Still need info for part no, if anyone can hepl?? Cheers Ste

Same thing happened to me yesterday. I cringed as i was parked curbside and a car was so close that i thought they were gonna wipe the side of my car out as they passed me. I was sat with my engine running and shot straight out behind it and overtook in a 30 then blocked the road as they had failed to stop even with me flashing my lights. I got straight out to see a woman looking very sheepish. I took her details and asked why she didnt stop, to which she replied, "I was going to" (yeah right, when you got home).

Fortunately for me, having done all that, i have checked for damage and there is none at all despite her mirror hanging of by its wires, but im glad i stopped her and found no damage rather than it be the other way round.
