Default What a busy weekend it's been! (Also some thankyous)

I've just had the most hectic Vectra weekend of my life

I came off on Friday (6am) and had Gazza4 coming to get UCAs, drop links, arb bushes front and rear and his 314mm calipers fitted.

Things got off to a bad start when we realised that 3 of his 4 tyres were nearly knackered and decided it was best to get some tyres there and then. A trip to Dundee saw him with 4 brand new 235/35/19 tyres which we had fitted by my local fitter. During the fitting process I noticed that his o/s track rod end had some play too.

By the time we had the tyres fitted it was 6 o'clock and we decided to just do a inspection on what else may be needed. We decided that the spacers fitted to the rear of his car were not helping the tyre wear and after alot of tapping we had the spacers off.

I then noticed he also needed a nearside track rod and inner cv boot

So with 8 o'clock approaching we decided to call it a day and Gary would return on Sunday with some more parts

Saturday morning came and I had a trip down to Phil's (signumboy) to pick up some painted bits (healdight washer covers, parking sensors and holders and my irmscher rear skirt.)

I then set about Phil's car with my DA and some megs uc to rub away the winter fading. Meanwhile Ewan (dasarab) had come along to fit a plug for my headlight washers followed by all three of us fitting the headlight washers into my bumper.

My first thanks goes to Ewan and Phil, cheers for the help guys.

Later that night I went home to activate my headlight washers and they wouldn't work (well they did once ) With the sunlight disappearing and me getting pretty tired I decided to call it a day

Sunday morning and Gaz appeared at 9 sharp to set about his car. By dinner time we had both UCAs sorted and were gonna use the afternoon to fit his track rod arms and ends.

We jacked the whole front end up and set it on axle stands to do both sides at once when I discovered that his drivers side wishbone was completely knackered. The bolt holding the rear bush to the arm had been cross threaded by a previous garage and was sitting about 10mm out meaning the bush was resting on the bolt and not the actual wishbone. There must have been about 5mm of play and the bolt had bent.....many more miles would have seen the bolt break

So yet another trip to dundee for a wishbone and we had the car back together again. As time was running out again I decided just to fit his drop links and front arb bushes. We'll get the rest done next saturday...hopefully

Then today I decided to have some me time and fitted my own track rods and rod ends before my alignment session on Thursday. Everything went without hitch and I was sorted in a couple of hours.

I thought i'd then take a look at my headlight washers and it was all down to the contacts on the new plug beinng dirty, a scrape and some wd40 saw my jets popping up

In all of my excitement I don't actually have any pics of the weekend but I think Ewan, Phil and Gaz may have some

Cheers guys it's been a really good weekend (not without it's hitches )
