Is the flexi pipe a common fault?

Hi Guys,

Just back from the dealer as my 09 plate Insignia SRi (only bought 1 week ago) needs a new flexi pipe - they need to order the part and then will fit free of charge of course but I had a Zafira before that and had to pay for a new flexi pipe after 6 months of ownership and the same issue on my 58 plate Vectra when I had that!

Is it a common fault that is likely to keep happening?

Still can't believe an 09 Insignia needs a new flexi .....

Can't speak for insiggy but my 03 veccy has had 3 flexis in 18 months! I thought it was just me lol

Where did you buy the Insignia from, if from a dealer I hope they are replacing under warranty.

Yes got the Insignia from a VXL dealer and they are doing the work with no cost to me ... wouldn't expect anything less.

I don't know why they didn't notice that when they checked the car over before selling to me though ...

Depends on the nature of the checks
If it is their own source, then you would need to investigate locally
If it is Network Q then there is a check sheet and you are supposed to receive a copy when you receive the car; every Network Q purchase I have disputed this
With Network Q, I suspect they look at the key, look at the car, press the key and it works, "Yes, the car is there, wash and clean it, ready for sale"

As for this pipe
Rather unusual you have experienced the same issue on every car
Maybe they see you coming?

Ironically with all my cars it has been the boot lock

There are loads of such pipes, which one specifically is it?
Is it the one that connects the solid air intake pipe (next to the offside headlamp) to the flexible air intake pipe?
When I bought my car I noticed it was not aligned correctly, very easy to fix, and I suspect this had been caused during a headlamp bulb replacement (as it is easier by pushing it out of the way)

I went to an aftermarket place, paid £60 for it, It's shorter than the vx one and much sturdier
