Eek vectra B owner hopefully soon to be vectra C owner

Met up with gixerjd yesterday and had a drool over his vectra C vxr and vectra B gsi .

I live in manchester but in leeds at weekend at my other halfs pub. I have at the minute a 97 P-reg vectra cdx in titanium v6 was looking at buying a vectra C special but after talking with james I think a 1.9 cdti may be a better idea and the extra 100 miles a week I do on top of 125 miles a week I do for work.

Hoping to make a meet in the nearby area soon.

    welcome to the site
with you only doing a total of 225 miles a week would it be worth buying a 1.9cdti

as its only going to cost 45-55 aweek in the 2.8t in petrol so i bet you will only save around £25 per week in fuel cost

i think i would rarther spend the extra and have the fun and power of the 2.8t under your right foot

Hmmmmm maybe a good reason to stick to the v6 turbo route at the min 200 miles is about the average for work and going to and from leeds there is also the driving I do at home and in leeds (shopping etc) plus there is always the chance of my missus going further a field to another pub weds is D-day on that side of it then I can decide on which I prefer.

    And thanks for the welcome.

welcome to vec c bud it was nice chatting to you and hope you enjoy your stay over hear

as said yesterday you can buy a cdti and map it and get good bhp and torque out of it and still have good mpg and if your having it mapped its best to have the dpf and egp mapped out then it lowers how many faults the cars can get but its like any other car they all have faults

the v6 2.8t specials are a waist of time to me there is too much missing off them eg wheels seats body kit etc so yes it would be a sleeper but it wont be as good as a vxr as it has sri wheels etc and how much it would cost you to put the stuff back on it you may as well buy a vxr in the first place

I agree with the sleeper look and it won't be a vxr I have seen half leather seats for sale for the C and there is other stuff you can do vxr wheels are nice and seen sets for a resonable price and tbh if I did get the cdti sri it would be the same as the special its a catch 52 situation do I save an save an get a vxr or save for special/cdti and have them mapped and find a half leather interior not really got the rear for a vxr recaro seat lol

you get about 300 miles to a tank in a 2.8T 350 if you drive real slow (whats the point) A tank full is £80 just over so it's gonna cost about £60 in fuel for a 200 mile trip

My other car. 1972 1641cc slammed beetle. On the road finally!!
