Bought myself a Vectra :)

Hi

Sold my van last week, and bid and won this vectra on Ebay yesterday, should be able to collect it on saturday morning from the sellers.

Has anyone got any suggestins as to what to check when i collect it ?, I know to listed for a rattling DMF, but i'm not sure what else to check before i hand over my cash for the car ?, I was a citroen tech many years ago and know the HDI engine inside out, but have never had my hands on the Vauxhall engines before

just make sure the cambelt has been changed when it should have been
start it from cold to check cold starting capability
check the fluid levels and see if any oil in water or vice versa
check everything electrical works
general check of chassis legs and quarter panels etc looking for crash damage
check bottom of bellhousing for brake/clutch fluid dampness and on test drive when warmed up cruise in any gear if you can for a minute or two to see if you lose clutch pedal pressure as the csc are quite common to leak and draw in air.

do a hpi or even a cheaper "mytext check" for reasurrance on outstanding payments due or insurance related recordings on vehicle losses.

on test drive check the usual pulling to side under braking etc
and check its getting good power pull as dpfs can block and egr can stick etc

dmf will rattle and not do any damage ( some people say they put excess vibration through box and destroy it ) ive ran transits etc with rattling dmfs for tens of thousands of miles with no worries and not noticable after a while when listening to radio.

if you do change dmf i would get clutch and csc done at same time

i done my csc and clutch as a 3 in 1 clutch kit as i had a dodgy csc
it took about 10 hours with subframe dropped and box moved back

mines a 3.2 gsi and 5 speed though!

Thanks for the replies everyone, I collect the car tomorrow at about midday, so will do a testdrive before handing over my money, and if all if well, i'll be the new proud owner of a Vecra
