Default Can't remove my factory stereo, help.

Hi guys, me again (whole forum cries "Oh no, not again").
I'm trying to remove my CCR2006 but it won't unclip and pull forward. I don't have the proper stereo removal tool but do have a pair of single DIN sized stereo removal tools that I've chopped in half to make the 4 rods that push in the stereo's holes. Do I need a dedicated Vx tool, or am I doing it wrong, or is the stereo just being stubbon.

It can be a bit stubborn, but you will find it much easier with a set of Double DIN pullers. Halfords sell a set for a few quid. The single ones should still do the job, the way you've done it, the hardest bit being pulling on all four corners evenly - which is where the double DIN pullers will help.

Cheers Dunc. I can't get the old pullers to unclip the the clips in the back of the stereo, so I'll buy the proper ones like you say.

You gotta keep the stereo square as it jams dead easily.

I took the two top switch blanks from either side of the stereo & inserted my chopped up din release tool into the holes, pulled it out with my finger tips. Don't push the release tool in too far, easy to say when you've done it!!

It's just being stubborn. It's a really snug fit, you'll have to just wiggle the unit to get it out.

I used 2 kebab skewers! Once the catches have released, just pull it a couple of mm on one side, then the oher.

    And watch your fingernails.......

I always remove all radios from vectras with only 2 keys, the old ones that is, I must get the new ones for four holes. I've always got the glovebox out by the time I need to remove the radio during a phone kit installation.
Insert keys down left hand side & give it a shove from behind, take the pins out & stick them down the right hand side & give it another shove. By this time you should now be able to pull it out from the front by hand.
