piston rewind tool size

Hi,im going to change my rear pads and discs on my signum 56 plate cdti at the weekend and before i start can somebody tell me what the distance is between the pins on the tool from center to center as ive got one thats 22mm but not sure if that is the right size ? many thank`s Steve

If you have a sealy set its the same size as the actual rewind tool itself (about 19-20), but there usually easily done if not siezed with pliers.

its not a sealy set it a home made one that fits on to a ratchet,thanks for your quick reply wizard

not being funny all these fellers saying use this or use that " it's easy " yes it is till it goes wrong and you cant wind it back and your car is on stands and your snookered and end up having to pay top dollar for the kit. It take a fair amount of force to get them started winding back in. I would search for the kit or try to borrow one if I was you just in case its sods law it will go wrong without a back up plan (just my advice been in position above)

im thinking along the same lines as you mark there is nothing worse than being caught out in one of these situations.Think i will have a search for one !Thank`s again

i agree with you there with the pliers i did mine the other day, if using pliers the trick is to turn the piston 10mm (no more ) anticlockwise and then turn clockwise to wind them in

i could not get mine to go in at all until i found this trick

to be honest with you winding the piston in is the least of your worries as getting the caliper carrier torx bolts to move without slipping are the worst bit due to lack of room and how tight the ******s are
