Default Valve Clearance check with Cambelt change

I'm getting my cambelt changed shortly, my cars coming up to 80k and I'm not going to wait until it gets to 100k as per the manual.
On some posts on here people have said the valve check can cause issues while others say it doesn't.
    Any experiences and recommendations?

The auxiliary belt is due at 80K miles, the cambelt is not due until 100K miles
The cambelt on this engine will easily get to the 100K miles
I had mine completed at 90K miles, as this was the nearest service interval (the next would have been 120K miles)

If the auxiliary belt has not been changed, then do that NOW, although you could have both done at the same time
Also have the (auxiliary belt) tensioner examined, this doesn't last much beyond 100K miles and once worn will scream it's head off
    Alternatively you could include this

As you have rightly seen from the Service Schedule, the cambelt includes checking the valve clearances
The dealership I use overlooked this and wondered why the cambelt change took them just two hours, when the booked time was six hours
I questioned this and they then completed this additional work

Shortly afterwards my engine suffered the blocked SCV issue
Whether this was from the cambelt work (and associated checking valve clearances) is debatable
The dealership advised it was very unlikely and never provided a confirmation of this
Furthermore, the response I received from VX was not much help either, it simply advised the faulty SCV had been replaced as per the warranty (which I already knew)

I'm going to get it done at Vauxalist in Loncoln, £170 for a full service, just waiting on the price for the cambelt etc.

Just about to get mine done at the same place, pretty sure Leo quoted me around £250.

On a 3.0 V6 I would be suprised if £250 covered the labour costs at a vauxhal dealer

It'll only take an hour to do a v6 cdti belt kit.

As water pump is driven internally so no set time to get it changed.
And crank to fuel pump is also gear driven. So belt only goes from fuel pump round cams.

One of easiest belts out their to do

Doh, assumed the OP had a copy of the Service Schedule for a Y30DT, hence the question!

On a Z30DT that should cover both the part (cambelt kit) and labour
