    Talking Looks like I'm staying!!!

Well the Siggy is finally sold (Miss it already)... And I thought my days on the forum were over... however... It looks like I may well be the owner of a 2006 Saab 9-3 Estate

And due to its ridiculously unreliable 1.9 TID engine and the fact that Saab are broke and the engine is mainly 'Vec' this forum will forever remain useful I just couldn't pull myself away!

My 25th birthday and I'm buying a Saab... midlife crisis? Or just too snobby to buy a Vectra estate?

I can see why GM let them go... the interior is a masterpiece of design compared to the Vec... even the handbrake blends in as a handle on the trans tunnel lol! And 3 windscreen washer jets? Why? What was wrong with 2?

Even when they were under the ownership of GM, SAAB seemed to just go there own way and upgrade parts rather then using standard GM parts.

I am currently looking at Saab 9-3 aero's, but only upto 2006 spec as the dash change on the late 2006> cars look dreadful! Not sure what to go for though...a 2.0T or 2.8T????????

Is that even a question??? 2.8 All the way, I just sold my 2.8 Siggy! Quick on their own but get an EDS remap and you will be flying... not much other than sports cars can keep up with a remapped 2.8 easily

I can't stand the Saab dash layout... I think this one has the facelifted one without the huge vents everywhere and more knobs instead of switches... I find it looks tidier but I guess everyones opinion is different lol

25yo - midlife crisis??? Okay instead of changing your life, change the car

Vec estate is one of the boggest in it's class but if you compare the design, Saab is one of the most beautiful etates on market imo. Especially with aero package!

The 2.8 is a terrible drive. Too much power for the chassis. 2.0 feels a lot better

Hmmmm, does that mean that the 2.8 vecs and signums are even worse? Im led to believe they are the same chassis but the saabs have better suspension componants which give a better ride

I didn't find the 2.8 bad at all... It's not perfect by any standard but thats because its a Vauxhall!!! :P granted remapped to 300bhp first gear is useless if you dump the clutch too fast but once your into second upwards it flew! Cornering wasn't bad with the eibachs and bilsteins although if I didn't have the mrs I would of gone for something stiffer...

I found mine cornered tightly unless again you were in first gear... but then I never had the quaife diff fitted or anything which would improve the FWD grip.

Test drive them both, but the 2.8 on a remap is a totally different animal and makes the standard spec car feel tame.
