Default 3.0 Diesel in a Saab

    Chaps,

The 3.0 V6 Diesel in the Saab 95 is the same as the vec one right.... but am I correct in thinking that there were issues with it in Saab form?

    Cant quite remember?

They have cooling issues (they all do really even in the Vec!). If you look under the bonnet you'll find that the lump in the Vectra/Signum has one more coolant pipe running in front of the cylinders, the Saab one doesn't. Also as said, the 9-5 engine bay is smaller.
The turbo on the 9-5 3.0TiD is also slightly different and can not be fitted to a Y30DT because the exhaust part of the turbo has a different design.

In sure I read somewhere too that they only ever did a manual which was also limited too with a 5 speed gearbox so no good for motorway driving.

Yep, the 9-5s all only had 5 speed boxes including the big petrol engines as wasnt space for a 6 speed box i was told when i bought my old 9-5. fuel consumption was shocking on my 1.9 (150) as a result at cruising compared to similar vectra engines.
