    Default Urgent help required.

I am a disabled facelift '57 2.2 direct Sri Nav xp2 owner. I have a booking for the channel tunnel next month but due to worsening mobility I need to carry more stuff on my trip than previously. The answer is to fit a moderate to small roof box but that will clearly add height to the vehicle.

The handbook dimensions show the current car height as being 1.46 mtrs. (I do not know if this is to the centre high point of the roof or to the top of the black aerial mounting lump). I would have expected this dimension to be a clearance height. The channel tunnel limit I have a reservation for is 1.85 mtrs. UUMMHH ! The shallowest top boxes seem to be 37cm.

Given that the roof bar supports fit in the pre prepared fixing points which are slightly lower than centre point of the roof (and the aerial mount) can anyone give me a clue as to the dimension from the bottom of the mounting foot to the top of the mounting rail. With this dimension I can be more accurated in calculating the overall effect on the height.

I can try to change my booking on the tunnel but I understand that over 1.85mts, at the car crossing rates, spaces are limited, and I may have to change to a less desireable crossing time. Any help or advice wecome.

    Thank you.

Have you tried phoning them to explain? They are very good to deal with..

The roof bars sit about 5-10cm above the height off the roof, so add that into the equation. What about the thule roof bag? Excellent reviews on which and height could be adjusted...i.e squashed down ha..

You can get "roof" boxes that connect to tow bar mounted rack. I have used these in the past as I dont like having things on my roof, partly due to the fact im sure ill forget one day and also due to the effect on mpg and safe speeds.

This might be an option for you.
