Cigar Lighter Not Working

Hi Guy's, Just joined the forum. I have a 2003 '53 plate Vectra C Hatchback LS 2.0 DTi (Y20DTH). Having just bought it, i have noticed that my Cigar Lighter in front console, does not work. I have checked the fuse (No.22 on dash side as in Haynes Manual) and this is in good shape. Do these lighters burn out their elements or could it be a wiring or plug in problem????

Do you have a mobile phone charger or something you can plug in to see if the socket is getting power?

If so, then the fault lies with the cigar lighter itself. Have a look at the end to see if it's dirty or bent.

Pull the ashtray out and you will see if the wires underneath lighter socket are still connected or not.

I take it you're trying it with the ignition switched on?

i.e. the speedo warning lights lit up, or engine running.

If it works with a phone charger etc it could be the lighter is trashed. Stealers will rip you off £25 for a replacement lighter.

I'll check it tomorrow to see if it is disconnected. Thanks guy's.
