    Default computer expert needed

hi all i have just bought a new p.c , and it has came with a 160gb hard drive, the hard drive seems to be split in two partitions both 80 gig each the only problem is i am running out of space on the part of the hard drive that is allocated for downloads / games etc , and the other part of the hard drive reserved for the operating system never gets used. i had a 200 gb hard drive on my old pc and only a tiny fraction was reserved for the operating system , does any one know how i can allocate more space for games /movies etc thanks

Normally need some 3rd party software. You can still save on the first partition though mate? They advise saving on the 2nd one normally as if you use your recovery CDs it wipes partition 1. Everything left on partition 2 is ok.

So use partition 2 for very important stuff.

If you resize partition 1 your recovery cds won't work.

    as above really...

but if you aren't too bothered about the recovery CD's then get a program along the lines of Partition Magic.
This will do what you need and more.

    Default hm

use Partition Magic and just reduce an existing 80gig C: partition by 1/2, and move 40gig to your D:, it's easy, get the process set up and started and then just wait ;]

You got to reduce a drive bud to be able to increase one

    Partition Magic will do nicely.

    As Barbara says really.

But if you spread the load onto your C and D drive you don't need to fiddle with all this. Then at least if something goes wrong you can recover easily...
