Default Any1 know the LAW on this BLUE FLASHING lights

    Hello,

Basically mounted behind my grill I have two 8LED Blue DRLs and on my lower grill i have another 2 mounted. There linked into a switch in the car which will put them on shine them. This switch can also make them strobe and flash ect....

My question is, as long as i'm not using them on the public road, is there any harm in having these fitted for show purposes?

Even if you're not using them at the time, if the Police pull you and find them you can be done for having them fitted.

Some people actually fit the control switches for them under the bonnet so they can't activate them from inside the car, to prove they're for "show use only" but I know of people even being done for that.

Restrictions on fitting blue warning beacons, special warning lamps and similar devices

    16. No vehicle, other than an emergency vehicle, shall be fitted with–
(a)a blue warning beacon or special warning lamp, or
(b)a device which resembles a blue warning beacon or a special warning lamp, whether the same is in working order or not.

the switch in its self is some of complex. If discovered and asked to switch on they would simply just light up..

    But thanks for the advice...

I guess the same would go for having a siren fitted too?

Sorry, got to ask, why the hell would you fit blue lights and a siren if you're not trying to impersonate a police car?

Its not a UK siren.. its a euro style one, which isnt yet fitted..

The idea isnt to impersonate, its more for entertainment vaule to be used on private land.

Regardless if the use is on private land or not, if you get caught with them on a public road (even if they're unplugged), as per the above legislation you can get in all sorts of pain over it.

There are several people on here that I know of that have LED lights fitted behind their grilles for show use, most can't activate them from inside the car, but regardless they are still technically breaking the law. Don't get me wrong here I'm not necessarily all sweet and innocent and certainly not trying to tell anyone else what to do with their lives, but to my mind this is a lot more potential trouble than it's worth.
