    Default What a day......

Picking little one up from child minders, and thought 'cars sounding a bit loud'

Pops into local exhaust centre on the way home to find:

Exhaust flexi holed, centre section has lost it's hanger ( possible why the flex has failed ) oh - and while I'm under here did you know you've go a broken rear spring

Too late in the day for them to do anything, so off to the exhaust factors and get the bits myself. Guess that's my weekend mapped out

Bad news mate at least the spring is an easy fix. Hope you know a good welder, or are you just going to replace the flexi pipe.

Well.... that didn't go as planned.

Front flexi proved a pain as two studs sheared, so I had to drill them out, but the real problem was the new centre section - they sold me the wrong one !

I thought it odd that the new one finished 18" and a bend short of the old one, but thought, ok it's aftermarket so maybe it's supposed to be like that. Not a problem - just cut though the old pipe and leave enough to mate up to.

So, then I try to fit the centre section, and......

The front hanger was as far forward as it would go, and there's no way this was going on.

So there I am having cut the old system in 2, with a new one that doesn't fit

2 hours of faffing around later, cutting a hanger from the old front section and fitting it, as well as welding my earlier cut back together, the original centre secion is back on the car.

I wonder if the exhaust factors I bought it from stock vaseline - because their assistant is going to need it Monday when I go in there with the centre section they sold me
