Default Anyone built themselves a Westfield ?

As per the title, would like to know how you got on building it, the pro's and con's of self building.

Basically, is it worth it ?

I was offered a job at Westfield about 16 years ago welding the chassis.
I think if i buy one in kit form, i'd want to weld my own chassis after what i saw back then.

    Vehicle : BMW 525i

    Trim : M-Sport

    Engine : 2.5l Straight 6

I havent personally built one, but i believe the most difficult part of these builds is getting it registered (Hassle when using donor cars unless all parts are from the same year, or brand new) Its quite easy to get it on a q plate (which you probably dont want).

They do look good and are LOADS of fun! Especially when you have the satisfaction of knowing you built it all yourself I WILL build one one day (if i can find a frame big enough!)

You're misunderstanding mate, I think what Fil is talking about is the choice that Westfield or Caterham give you - a complete car, factory built for £Xk, or several boxes of parts delivered to your house, with a few bits already assembled, for a couple of grand less. Either way, it's the same parts, all brand new.

From westfield etc.. you can either buy a brand new kit, or what they call a donor kit. Which can either include just a chassis and bodywork for you to fit everything to (from a donor car) or they will also supply rolling chassis specifically designed for use with one particular donor eg mx5, sierra etc.
