Default Tie rod and front wheel bearing!!!

Hi all im new to the vec-c front and having a couple of small problems

Seems like i have a front passenger side wheel bearing gone and tie rod on the same side. When car is jacked you can feel slight play in the steering on passenger side, but drivers is fine and also driving between speeds of 40 and 50 you can hear like a humping noise from that side. If you turn to the right the noise gets louder, but if you turn to the left it goes Away.

Is my theory right or is it something else??

Also where would be the best place to buy these from and are the ones off fleabay any good????

How easy are they to change???

    Thanks scott

As with all suspension / steering parts, try to buy OE parts if you can afford it, and replace both sides on a like-for-like basis

Where was the report on the parts from, and what was the status (play, worn, or failed)?

check your inner tie rod this can make the tyres drone and give the illusion that a wheel bearing is gone

Check the How To's section, there's plenty for you there.

Best bet is to take it to Halfords or who ever, let them work out what has failed, then do it yourself.

If a bearing has gone, it's surprisingly hard to tell which side is making the noise.

If your turning right your putting more pressure on the near side wheel so if the noise gets worse when turning right its more chance that the left hand bearing has gone not the right

Last time one of my mates took a car to halfords, they told him it was the gearbox that was on the way out but ended up beind the wheel bearing

Thanks for all your comments, Think im just going to get everything changed on the front for new parts. I think it was owned by a rally driver before me, Loads of mud in the arches and snapped xenon levelling bracket to the front lower arm

As with all things, try what you can confirm has play or worn, and replace that (same advice as above with respect to steering / suspension and replace both side)
If the problem / issue still exists then you know some further investigation needs to be done

However, quite often one failed component takes others with it
The easily worn parts are often identified first, before sourcing the actual reason

Get genuine tie rod kit as as comes with new gaitirs clips and grease.

Fairly easy to change in about hour an half
