    Default ebay tv tuners

whilst i am fitting the new stereo i fancy throwing a tv tuner in there also provided its cheap enough to warrant it but there is a lot of choice.

does anyone have experience of one off ebay and can recomend one they have actually used and had working in their car please?

    thank you

Can't speak for the Ebay ones, I have an Alpine one fitted in my car, two twin aerials, one in each rear window (you can see one of these in the pic in my profile [bigger copy below]). Picture quality is superb, reception varies depending on area as some areas digital reception is cr4p still. In a good signal area you can sort of drive along with it on (which you shouldnt of course) but to be honest it's only reliable when standing still in my experience. Was useful last year at the Brentwood show as I sat and watched the grand prix

Definitely buy a digital one not an analogue one as the analogue signal is being switched off slowly all over the country now.

a digital one is what i am after, the alpine one costs as much as a tv for the house would cost!

    why 2 aerials?

I picked the Alpine TUE-T200DVB up second hand for about £150 I think from memory, they're about £350 new.

You can see it all here and how I fitted it http://www.vectra-c.com/forum/showth...132828&page=10

Two aerials (2 channel diversity antenna system) gives a better signal, it uses the best signal available to it, automatically switching between them or a combination of both depending on the signal it's getting (same way a wireless router does in your house).

Quite a few people on here use the cheapy Ebay ones I think mate, you can get one that does the job perfectly well for £30 - £40 ish, I'm sure someone will give their thoughts on them soon. I'm a big believer in you get what you pay for.

I have one similar to this connected to my Pioneer AVH-3200BT - pretty good picture when parked up, dependant on the local digital signal - it is slightly larger than a credit card and about 10mm or less thick, so I have it stuck somewhere behind the dash under the stereo

Do these connect via an aux in set up or do you need a dedicated tv tuner to receive and make sense of the signal?

i agree and normally i would follow this but lets be honest this is going to be used once in a blue moon so its not worth splashing out on some quality top of the line peice of kit.

a cheapy will do the job for the odd occasion that i will watch it.
