Default 1.9 150 cdti owners, abit of help please

right after reading loads of words on the internet i've decided not to go for the gsi, but chase a 1.9 cdti 150(my wallet will thank me). i've read alot bout chips on this site, and have read some people even have 200bhp and 300ft lbs.

the standard paper 0-60 is 8.8(i think)

from the modded cdti's what do you guy reckon your 0-60 is?

i use to own a 93 aero (205bhp) but was 240bhp with mods. i liked the massive torque in the car, and have heard that even standard the cdti, you feel pushed back in your seat. most the fun is in the "in gear" acceleration!!

    thanks for your time guys/gals!

Shake, apologies for what I am about to say is not answering your question, hopefully others will but I was also chasing a GSi and I test drove 1 and immdediatly test drove a SRI 150 CDTi. I opted for the CDTi and six months on, in unmodified form, I am delighted with it. Its averaged 47 MPG over these six months and the performance has been more than plenty for me. Being my first diesel, it took a bit of getting used to the initial lag but once you get used to it, IMO, its a great drive.

Mine is a 1.9 CDTi with a box but the 0-60 time is irrelevant to me as i will never treat my car how they do to get the times.

For me it is about the driveability of it and the massive amount of torque. I would much prefer to be able to put my foot down and the thing just picks up and goes rather than trying to keep traction from a standing start.

1st gear is virtually a no go if you want to get a quick start as the wheels will spin, TC cuts in and you loose the power change to 2nd and it picks up and when it gets to 2500-3000 rpm all hell breaks loose

I fitted a "Caterman Special" Box of tricks from Germany to my 1.9 sri 150, and in 2nd after about 2500ish rpm...the motor just takes off...Personally i'm not too botherd about 0-60, but the power is definatley there when you need it.....Perfect Car

I don't know what my 0-60 is I've not tried to time it properly, I did a traffic light grand prix with a young laddo in a fiesta zetec, thought I was going to lose wheelspinning in 1st & 2nd , the CR1 has turned it into a great car

you don't know how to launch it correctly then. I find the vec quite easy to launch even in the wet. I don;t race anyone from the lights but every so often I like to launch it from a set of traffic lights that are in a national speed limit zone

I have the VXR Re-map in mine and it has turned into a really nice car to drive.

Like yourself Shake, I come from a tuned Petrol background (265bhp/290lb/ft) Zafira GSi, the Vectra is quick but it will never be as much fun as a tuned petrol!!

the spider box looks interesting but ultimately a box just increases the fuel going in it does not adjust injection or boost pressure which is why a map should be better. Celtic Tuning offer a 200hp map cheaper which is cheaper than 888
