Interior light works, but not with doors open

Hi there. My interior light works if the button is pressed to switch it on, but doesn't work when the doors open. Any idea what it could be? Many thanks. Mark

It's going to be down to a switch. Have you tried opening all doors seperately? if it only doesnt work on one door then thats the one with the faulty switch. Don't want to state the obvious, but have you made sure the switch on the light fitting is at the right bit

Thanks for the reply. How do you mean the right bit on the light? You can only switch mine on with the button, you can't switch off the door opening bit as far as I can make out.

Not tried other doors yet, just drivers. Will nip out now and try the others.

Mines the opposite to yours... Button only works if doors are open, once shut it doesn't work...

I've nicked the ribbon somewhere tho and been too lazy to change so far... You done anything that could have knocked the ribbon or connectors?

Well said. Forgot about that. A few weeks ago I took a look at the ribbon cable for rear interior light as I was going to fit one as mine just has the front light.

The lights come on the dash and rear number plate light when I open the central locking. I think the interior light used to come on then too. Doesn't come on for any doors though.

Would the ribbon for the rear light mess up the front light though?
