Plastic insert/cap on gear knob

grrrrrrrr Smashed the plastic insert/cap on my gear knob tonight. I was fed up with my knob popping off (oooh missus) and so I used some loctite and thought it would be a good idea to use my rubber paviers hammer to errmmmmmm "tap" it back into place. Anyway after 2 swift hits all seemed fine and then couldn't resist one more coz I'm a bit anal and the plastic cracked on the third hit. Can you buy the plastic insert as a stand alone item?

I did that, but on the first <ahem> tap with the rubber mallet. It bugs me, but not enough to do anything about it though. Have you tried fleabay?

Not yet but I think I remember reading somewhere you could not but this separately. Could be wrong though. Might ring dealers or some scrap yards tomorrow. On the upside my knob is nice and secure now.
