Hi, Its a right pig of a job because of a bracket on the stainless cooler that is attached to the lower fixing bolt of the Thermostat - loads of previous posts have a look at http://www.vectra-c.com/forum/showthread.php?t=158982

No - its just the bracket on top of the cooler that causes the problem - and its simpler to cut this off

Yep, I managed to get my dremmel in there, then broke the cutting disc but had sufficiently cut enough to be able to break it......... other than this damned bracket its a breeze!

if you find any short cuts you need to do them as this job is a hand destroyer. also if you have to remove the egr cooler its a real rain putting it back on as the gaskets dont go back on easy at all.
im faced with having to do this a second time soon as its stuck open again

It makes access easier if you also remove the vac pump, 3 bolts and it's off,, just get a new gasket from the stealers before you start.
