Default HELP / Advice / VOID Warranty :(

    Hi Ya peeps,

Got a problem with my car. Thought it was mounts but had them replaced and it is still doing it. It seems from 1st to 2nd and reverse there is movement from what seems to be like engine mounts. VXL have said that it is slack in the gearbox. should be done under warrenty.

VXL dealer wont do it under Warrenty as I have a K&N Panel filter! They spoke to VXL customer services and my Warranty it VOID!

    HELP!

They won't repair a gearbox because of an air filter. I'd be making A LOT of noise about that.

Biggest load of bollox i've ever heard m8. It is your dealer trying to wangle out of doing the work.

My car went in for a new fuel pump fitted under warranty, cost was well over £2K with everything they fitted and nothing was said. I have a big K&N sticker on the bonnet slam panel so i was not hiding anything.

They know it has a tuning box too even though i take it off if it goes in as the "technician" i was talking to was asking me about them. It has been to them 3 or 4 times and never had a problem.

    Thats crazy!
A K&N panel filter is not a modification. it's simply a brand of filter.
Would they be saying the same if you had one of their replacement filters, or a Mann & Hummel filter (pretty much EVERY car garage will use Mann & Hummel!)

I would be down there first thing tomorrow!

Maybe, but I spoke to VXL customer services and they took the same line! Need to speak with them monday as I'm really pi$$ed that they wont do it due to a differnet panel filter!

Anyone have any go ammo that I can use on them?

    Thanks for you help guys.

Martyn your dealer can't refuse to carry out warranty work on your car when you have a "Branded" recognised air filter fitted, apart from that the air filter plays no part in the role of the gearbox

Not wanting to prevent you from trying to get the decision overturned but playing Devils Advocate … the Warranty terms do state that the car must be serviced in accordance with Vauxhall guidelines using ORIGINAL GM Parts ... and the air filter is a service item Perhaps you could remove the filter and head off to another garage ... then deny all knowledge of you being into a previous garage (Vxl must have added the Reg no incorrectly when logging the case )

Personally i would ask them why that particular filter Void's your warranty, as like i said in my previous post it's simply a different brand of filter - in this case a 'longlife' or 'no-replacement' filter.

Ask them to explain why using a K&N filter differs from using a Mann & Hummel (again from previous post) - as they are both different filters from when the car came from the factory.

Failing that, get yourself to your local motor factors, and spend around a fiver on a normal filter, then take it back!

It's crazy why the garage would refuse to undertake the work as t's a warranty claim, durr, they get paid to do the work for & on behalf of Vauxhall claiming what ever parts they need along the way.
I've worked for an approved warranty repair centre for consumer electronic & you DO NOT turn down warranty work even if it's been damaged through neglect. It's as good as a blank cheque.
Just goes to show which direction Vauxhall want their customer relations to go.
