Exclamation Cdti silicon intercooler pipes fail ! No turbo?

I had a a go at changing my intercooler pipes. Being in a rush I change the two R shaped hoses near the the AC Fill Tip. After having a blast and checking the pipes seemed fine. After another blast no Turbo sound but a pure whistle sound with no power then spanner light came on going up hill giving it some then it went off as I got up the hill.

Have I ruined my turbo or is there more possible chance of loose hose or have loosened a hose whist wresting to put them on maybe have I damaged the intercooler? Whats the most likely thing? I want to have an idea as I will have the car seen too by regular diesel specialist.

No power and chucking what i would call boost air through the exhaust.

Have you tried the normal hoses again? My guess is the silicon ones may be collapsing under boost (inflating). Only a guess. I doubt it's a coincidence that it's doing it after you fitted these pipes.

    Thumbs down

Due to it getting dark I had to rush the work. After driving 10 miles everything was fine into my 20th mile town driving all I am hearing is air / boost going through

Could the oil seals be gone or oil in the hoses therefore collapsing? Or Maybe turbo is stuck but there was no issues before?

Are you sure the hose hasn't just fallen off? To me it could be the hose that goes between the compressor and intercooler has came away or is leaking. This explains the noise but no boost (if I read you right). The spanner light will be coming on due to there being a boost leak as the leak is after the MAF in the intake system.

Possibly would the spanner light explain where the problem is? I believe it could be the hose at the bottom left which then fits to the metal pipe as it was hard getting it on. Can I assume to say my turbo and intercooler have gone dead on me?

Eh I wouldn't jump to conclusions yet. Check the obvious first. I think a pipe has came off. If something failed on the turbo - which is is purely mechanical, a spanner light would probably be the last of the tell tale signs I should imagine. Usually its a knackered engine/noise engine at best when vanes of the turbo shatter due to bearing failure.

I think you have a split or loose hose.
