yellow Engine light perm on dash !!

OK ! Give me a clue......appart from other probs with my new 2.0l T...The yellow engine light came on the dash this morning and stopped on with engine running ! Da book of words says its something to do with emision control......And if it starts blinking it could cause the cat to destroy itself? ......Then ! Later this afternoon, I went out to the car and it had gone OFF....Any Ideas?

a had it happen last week the guy at vauxhall put it on the tech 2 and said it was reading out a unknow code so he just reset it but he said sumthin about it needs to happen 3times for the ecu to register it and put the warning light on but a know nuffin about engines so if it happens again a would go in and get it checked

How many miles?

Usually it's the Throttle Body and EGR valve need cleaning, if it's a new car let Vx sort it, if not and it's in at least 2nd yr warrenty it wont be covered.

Main areas to pay att to are the flap in the housing *like an old carb one* and the pipe to the side of the unit that the rubber hose connects to the rocker cover, again with the EGR valve, lots o' carb cleaner and make sure any connecting hoses are also cleared out.
