    Default DPFs + MOTs

So, Im going this week for my REmap + EGR + DPF However i was speaking to a few people today about it and im getting some mixed responces from them.

Some are saying it would cause it to fail the MOT and some say it wouldnt. I asked 2 MOT Testers that i know, 1 said he would fail it, the other not. (though i cant get to either for an MOT when due)

Any one got there DPF Removed?
    Had an MOT?
Any actual noticable difference with the DPF Removed completly? (more typical diesil smoke? etc)

there is no emissions test for a diesel at mot, it will only fail if it is smoking excessively. in n.ireland anyway.

Also in England the same applies, diesels are only subject to a smoke test

You should be ok. The Opacity limit for the smoke output of a deisel has been lowered from 3.0% I believe, but I think that only applies to Euro 5 diesels.

The Vectra was only ever Euro 3/Euro4.

    Thanks guys,

Any one here actually got the DPF Removed and passed an MOT like it? With the DPF in place the car has no smoke what so ever (which suprised me for a tractor lol)

Will there be a lot of smoke with DPF Removed?

It should fail as it's been removed but some testers are not as clued up on the new MOT rules that started this year.

Not sure that I agree with some of this information.
On any diesel car, it is ilegal for the exhaust not to point down toward the ground, UNLESS it has a DPF fitted and therefore no black smoke (in theory) can be omitted. The current MOT test checks the opacity of the smoke in a light meter, so if the EGR or DPF of both have been removed, then you run the risk of a higher level of soot (black smoke) being visible.

Best option is to get the car cracking hot and ensure that the exhaust has been purged of any soot prior to presenting the car at the MOT Stn.

We have seen town driven cars with blocked DPF's that people have drilled holes through the DPF to allow it to vent excess pressure, but as the cars are still town driven, the soot problem does not go away.

The Vectra hatch doesn't have a DPF in all cases even where the exhaust shows. Euro 5 may dictate the law you are referring to (read that somewhere too). The Vectra/Signum are both euro 4 cars.
