Default Is it ok to blank egr with dpf fitted?

Hi. I have blanked my egr today on my 56 vec cdti 150 sri but i have recently spotted a comment on a post that says dont do it if your car is fitted with dpf.

How do you know if you have dpf or not? And has anyone done it already with dpf, if so any problems?

    Regards ally

I dont think so mate as when you blank it the eml will come on and im sure ive read somewhere that the dpf will not do a regular regen with the eml on

Blanking completely wont hurt the dpf but you will get a eml. You just need to restrict it drill a 10mm hole and all will be fine

ok thanks, eml is on as you say but does it do it any harm if it dont do a reg regen?.

Just wanted to stop the manifold clogging up and jamming the flappy bits lol so i think putting hole in it will defeat the purpose, does a partial blank have any other benefits?

It will do harm if it doesn't regen, as the particulates will build up. Remove the blank, get the DPF and EGR valve mapped out, remove the DPF and then blank the EGR valve off.

Apparently it's easier to disable the EGR valve on an engine fitted with a DPF.

If it doesnt get to do its reg regens the dpf will clogg up and put the car into limp home mode, do what i and alot of other people have done and smash the insides out of the dpf and get the software removed you will never have to worry about it again!

If its an auto or an estate then it will have a DPF.

For all your input folks this has givem me a better insight to it.
My car isnt an estate or an auto so I assume that I dont have dpf fitted but will look into it to find out for definate. And if my car has it fitted I will remove the insides so it doesnt clogged snd go into limp mode.

But do they pass emissions tests with the insides out, would I be right to assume its a kind of catalytic convertor set up.

Stop one thing from clogging and it starts clogging another... The joys hehe!
