I read that you say that it charges and keeps charge - do you mean the pressure within the system?

The condensor on the Vectra-C is a known weak point, that gets shot-blasted and eventually becomes holed by stones and grit being thrown up at the front of the car.

Mine has recently lost it's refridgerant, but you can still hear the engine note change when you turn the air-con on. - so the compressor kicking in.

A new condensor and receiver dryer are approx £90 to £150 plus postage on ebay, and then it would need to be fitted, all moisture vacuum out of the system, and the the whole thing regassed,

Stupid money at the dealers.. one of the seal washers is £15 on it's own from Vx.
A generic equivalent is less than a quid from an air-con supplier.

Not asking for help, I am just asking the OP if he is sure that he has not lost refridgerant.

I used Vaux-Com to tell me that my pressure was approx 105 kPa (just above atmospheric pressure). - should be a lot more than 320 at idle, rising by 500 when the air con is switched on.

    Thanks for response,
All I did was get a pressure of 25 psi on the low pressure side, ran the air con for 10 minutes ( not cold but heard a clunk ) and still got 25 psi whilst running. Not sure if the pressure is correct but I believe at approx 18 deg c the pressure should be between 25 and 30 psi.
    Cheers
