DON'T pull it, theres a narrow groove alone the bottom, push a folded out paperclip along it into the hole and it'll release the stalk.

    could be clutch switch adjustment,

to adjust it you need to hold the pedal down and pull the plunger out of the switch a few clicks.

then release the pedal and it will self adjust.

There was a thread on here recently regarding this. The OP took the stalk apart - the dodgy/dirty connections are at the switch end of the stalk around the microswitches. I did it and it fixed my cruise control. Dead easy to do too.

Here is the thread - good luck

Look for the cellotape thread. (think about what your finger is doing resting on the stalk, think vibration)?
    Works a treat.
Cheap and easy, and I've pulled my stalk out over a dozen times without a problem. One hard yank and shes done !
    Good luck.

and a CIM costs a few hundred pounds if you damage it by yanking on something that isnt designed to be yanked.
please dont tell people to yank there stalks out as thats not the correct way to remove it
