Default need help quickly please people!

car has been struggling to start last few days but i put it down to it being damp and cold... however today i drove to the chippy not a problem, but after i got my food i came out and nothing happened when i turned to key. lights came on for ignition but car would not start, not even turning over or even trying to. i bump started the car and it went no problem and now iv got it home and turned it off there is nothing again... is my starter motor gone or is it something to do with coil or glowplugs. iv recently replaced the thermostat so could i have done something wrong there?

thanks for any help guys but i need to get this sorted asap as its needed for work..

    How old is the car?

Could be your alternator or more likely your battery if you managed to bump it, I've just replaced my battery on my '04

and i didnt think it was the battery as everything else was working fine, there was no drained signs or struggling to start or anything prior to it not starting.

Could be the solenoid on the starter. If this does not energise then the starter does not get the power to engage.
