    Default Cam Sensor replacement

I removed the Timing belt cowling to start replaceing my Cam sensor when I noticed it sits behind the cam vernier wheel. I replaced the cowling and went inside to sulk.
Last time I touched a timing belt I destroyed an engine.

I got a quote from a local garage that said it would take 45 minutes and would cost £30-£40 (me supplying the sensor)

That sounds a little quick to me, as if he doesn't realise the sensor is behind the V-wheel. What do you guys think?

lol, you've got exactly the same problem as me. Error code showing cam sensor, poor cold starting.
It's probably not the cam sensor to be honest, after a couple of weeks that error cleared, but I still have cold start issues. It's almost certainly the starter motor (See other thread in the tech problem forum), I just havent had the time or money to change it yet.

Yeah, as Ste said Starter motor. Sorry JayKay, I was in a rush when I typed that message.
It will almost certainly not be your glow plugs, EGR, air filter, fuel filter, leak off pipes, Battery, DMF, or any number of other suggestions you'll hear. I've done them all.
The only possible thing it can be is cam sensor (which I now know it isn't) or Starter. The Starter sounds fine, but it really isn't.

Yep, mines starts if you keep priming it. I was going to put a none return valve in. Glad I didn't.
    Weird problem with weird symptoms
