    Default New ignition Barrel??

    Hi all,

Today my key is not turning in the ignition barrel as it should. It is harder than usual to get it past position 2 when starting the car. When turning off the engine, the key literally snaps/jumps from position 3 to position 2 with a loud click! I guess I'm looking at a new barrel, but what I wanted to know is can one be fitted without the need for Tech2? I'm looking at getting off eBay, they even come with a key. Any help would be much appreciated as this is a serious problem I am lead to believe, or atleast it can become one.

I know this is obvious, but have you tried WD40 or some kind of oil or grease. I would try that first, it is an easy and cheap thing to do.

    Default Hi

    Hi,

I was thinking this but do I just spray it into the key hole? Or do I need to some how remove the barrel? Thanks

I'd probably try just spraying some on the actual key itself, then working it in and out of the ignition barrel for a bit.

I'm actually worried I'm starting to sound like Swiss Tony here, so I'll stop......

    Default HI

lmao.................. yeah we don't want anything to break

But seriously, I'll give this a go guys. I'm gonna call my local Bosch VX specialists and ask them the situation with replacing the barrel if it comes to that. I bet it's expensive, so I hope this WD40 works
