Default Thermostat problem? Not sure to be honest

Never really had a problem or noticed one before. The temp rises to around 88-90 after a few miles of driving from cold but...

I was fairly stuck yesterday on the M25 and crawling for about an hour.

I was wondering about coolant temp (coolant levels are fine btw) so went in to Testmode on my CD70 Navi and the coolant temp was showing 102 degrees yet my temp gauge was only showing about 91 degrees.

Is this normal or do I have a failure up and coming?

I have no idea to be honest.

    Thanks for any input.

I don't think it is anything to worry about, it was quite warm yesterday.

    Default

only thing that could be is the coolant temp sensor failing but.......... if the gauge rises steady and stays there then it kinda rules the sensor out lol

Also the thermostat open to circulate the coolant at about 88/90 so it shouldn't get much hotter than that............ unless the thermostat is failing............

as said sbove though- probably nothing to worry about :-)a
