Angry 2.2 Direct Misfire Problems :(

Hi, I am looking for some advice for my Vectra.
Basically I was travelling home from work Tues mainly sitting in traffic and when pulling away the car started to judder. The yellow spanner light illiminated so I pulled over and turned off the ignition. I then restarted the car which turned out the light but now the car keeps misfiring under load.

After reading through the forums I purchased some new plugs & coil pack which i fitted today but the car still does the same?

It idle's fine and drives ok at very low revs, but as soon as you accelerate above 3/4k it starts to misfire, ending up losing virtually all power.

The EML came on so I have plugged my code reader in and im receiving error p0303.

I dont know what next to try, so would appreciate any help.

    Thanks
    John

Its not the EGR mate its the HP pump on the Fuel rail, odds on its a Siemans and this will be the cause of your problem, its a very easy job to swop it over. The EGR by the way is on the side of the engine next to the battery box, its water cooled so if you unbolt it you will have to drain and refill the coolant system.

It could be either FPR or HP pump (or both). in the last year ive changed both.. as i same problems like you.

Only way to determin what fails is to have faultcodes read out, but sure sounds like the HP pump (takes 20 minuts to change.... and not even that long)

Many thanks to all for the replies. I have just taken off the pump and cleaned out using some degreasing spray down the nossels. I did not have the correct torx socket to undo but even with this small clean, I have just driven 5 miles without no misfiring except if i let the revs past 3k. Does this sound like the pump for definate as I have just shed out 180 pound on coilpack and plugs and am looking at another 300+ for the pump.

That sounds like the pump.. (i drove home 375 miles with a defect HP pump)

Seach the bay for cheaper Continental replacement..
