Default RANT @ McGuard locking wheel bolts !!!

Had 2 new tyres put on my car on monday and yesterday decided to take the wheels off to give them a damn good clean inside and out.
All well and good up until i came to tighten up the locking bolts......
the centre of the locking key decided now would be a good time to shear off it's retaining splines that joins the inner part to the outer !!!

So i've just got back from Halfrauds after complaining about the key (took the reciept aswell) but as i purchased it in december 2010 (now 15 months old) it had gone past the standard 12 months warrenty !
I spoke with the manager and complained that as this "Tool" is rarely used, the quality/design was poor to say the least if it fails so easily !
The bolts have never been tightened by airgun at the tyre fitters as i won't let them so only ever done by hand.

The outcome to all this is i've had to replace the locking bolts with a new set costing me another £37 and the headache of trying to remove the old bolts without damaging the wheels (which i've just about done !!!)

I'm now about to send a snotty e-mail to McGuard HQ in Germany !
They better watch out, FIL's on a mission !!!!!

Oh - thank you to Halfrauds for all your help ...........NOT !

Looks like all wheel nuts are as bad as each other. Did you not keep the original packaging as the key code for a replacement key, and order form, is in it. Sure its £12 or €10, some thing like that.

All well and good unless you can't find the key code !

My point is they shouldn't fail so easily. It's not as if it's a regulary used item !

Go get them Phil. If the packaging gives a fax number for the MD send him one. I did that once over acar insurance issue with Churchill, told the MD his Customer Service manager for the UK was a Chocolate teapot. They still hand up on me if I call, hehehe
